Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson changed from his judge’s robes to Broadway costume Saturday night and took to the stage for a one-off performance of the hit musical comedy “And Juliet.” The sold-out audience was treated to a special moment in Jackson’s Broadway debut, which impressed both his co-stars and the audience.
He said this in an exclusive interview with CBS Morning co-host Gayle King after the show. jackson Reflect on your experience. “I think it means anything is possible,” she said. “Five years ago, I was a district court judge and no one knew who I was. It was extraordinary for me that both of my fondest dreams had come true in such a short time. It was.”
“I’m overwhelmed with the joy of this experience. I’m so grateful to the staff and crew at ‘& Juliet’ for helping me make my dreams come true. It’s been phenomenal,” Jackson added.

In his memoir, “Lovely One,” Jackson revealed his lifelong love of theater and spoke of his desire to become Broadway’s first Supreme Court justice.
“I’ve always loved theater, and I felt very comfortable on stage. You know, I’ve always been acting since I was really young. Theater people were my buddies. I felt like it was,” Jackson said in an exclusive interview with CBS. It was held at the Civilian Hotel in New York, just before the first rehearsal for “Mornings.”
“My best friend was a girl named Sunny Schleifer, and we used to come up with skits, dress up, and do all kinds of things.When I entered high school, we did speeches and debates. “I had two different loves: law and theater,” she said.
Jackson’s Broadway debut included two scenes written specifically for her in the musical “And Juliet,” which celebrates female empowerment and control of one’s own destiny. “It’s a great message and obviously a lot of fun,” Jackson said.
Before hitting the Broadway stage, Jackson prepared for the performance by participating in table reads, scene walkthroughs, and vocal sessions.
Looking back on his early days as an aspiring actor, Jackson recalled a drama class at Harvard where he performed with classmates who would later become famous. matt damon. “We were just in drama class together,” Jackson said. “I memorized my lines, I was ready, and when it was over, the professor would say, “Ketanji, you did a great job. Matt, let’s talk.”
She even debated which path to take between her two loves.
“I mean, there was a time when I thought about acting. I always wanted to be a lawyer and I thought, ‘Well, I might be pretty good at this,'” she said.
Jackson reflected on the experience after the performance. “The lesson is, don’t give up, don’t flinch, you can do it. And again, anything is possible.”
