William Shatner Offers Insights to Blue Origin’s All-Female Crew Ahead of Space Voyage
In a remarkable continuation of space exploration, William Shatner, who became the oldest person to journey into space at the age of 90, has shared valuable insights with the all-female crew of Blue Origin’s upcoming flight. This group is set to launch on April 14, comprising notable figures such as journalist Gayle King and other talented women in various fields.
Embracing the Adventure of Space Travel
Shatner, renowned for his portrayal of Captain Kirk in the iconic series “Star Trek,” underlined the importance of embracing the adventure. In a recent conversation with Gayle King, he stated, “You’re on an adventure. You’ve got to embrace it.” He emphasized how each crew member should prepare for a journey filled with new experiences.
The Unique Experience of Weightlessness
One of the most intriguing aspects of space travel that Shatner highlighted is the sensation of weightlessness. “There are no words in the English language to explain what weightlessness is like,” he remarked. “It is the strangest feeling. Nothing is like it, not swimming in a pool where they have the astronauts. Nothing is like it.” His reflections point to the surreal nature of experiencing space firsthand, which is something fewer than 600 individuals have done before.
Preparing for the Journey
Shatner also addressed the physical challenges of space travel, particularly the G-forces experienced during takeoff. He encouraged the crew members to maintain their focus throughout the experience, suggesting they use personal mantras to help center themselves amidst the excitement and demands of the journey.
A Rare Opportunity
Recognizing the significance of their mission, Shatner reminded the crew that this journey is a unique chance to witness Earth from a perspective few have enjoyed. “You’re going to see the world like nobody. Only 600 people have seen it before,” he said, encapsulating the enormity of their impending flight.

The launch, featuring Gayle King and her fellow crew members including pop icon Katy Perry, entrepreneur Lauren Sánchez, and pioneers Aisha Bowe, Amanda Nguyen, and Kerianne Flynn, will be broadcast live.
