In a tragic turn of events, Molly McGovern, the daughter of Congressman Jim McGovern, has passed away at the age of 23 while visiting friends in Italy. The Corn Congressman’s office confirmed the news on Thursday.

Molly had been battling a rare form of cancer and had recently completed a semester studying abroad in Australia. Her father, Rep. McGovern, expressed profound sorrow in a statement, noting her remarkable spirit during her illness.
“Even as she faced a rare cancer diagnosis, she did so with relentless courage, optimism, and tenacity—refusing to let her illness slow her down,” said Jim McGovern.
He added that her passing was unexpected as she was enjoying quality time with friends and their family during her trip.
