The Pilates Studio Selling Out Classes Before It Even Opens

Ashley Dearden, founder of Reform Room Scottsdale, leading the transformation of Pilates with community-driven events and members-only model

How a former corporate insider is reshaping wellness with intention, structure, and a members-only Pilates collective in Scottsdale.

On a quiet morning in Scottsdale, Reform Room studio still looks more like a construction site than a finished Pilates space. Architectural sketches cover the walls, reformer layouts are being finalized, and the build-out is still months away from completion.

But the brand itself is already very much alive.

While the physical studio undergoes an extensive build-out phase, founder Ashley Dearden has taken an unconventional approach to launching Reform Room Scottsdale. Instead of waiting behind closed doors, she’s been bringing the studio into the city through a series of sold-out pop-up Pilates events and brand activations across Scottsdale and the greater Phoenix area.

In many ways, it reflects a larger shift happening in the wellness industry. Pilates is no longer confined to traditional studios. The new wave is experiential – movement paired with community, creativity, and environment. Reform Room has leaned fully into that evolution.

Over the past several months, the brand has hosted large-scale Pilates activations ranging from Ponies & Pilates on a private Scottsdale ranch to luxury collaborations like Porsche & Pilates hosted at an exclusive members-only car club. Each event brings together movement, social connection, and carefully curated brand partners in environments that feel elevated but approachable.

Most notably, every single event has sold out.

Attendance regularly reaches 75 guests or more per class, transforming what is typically an intimate studio workout into a community-driven experience. For Dearden, the goal isn’t simply to fill a room – it’s to create moments where wellness feels social, memorable, and aligned with the lifestyle many Scottsdale residents already live.

“We realized early on that Pilates doesn’t have to live inside four walls,” Dearden explains. “While our studio is under construction, we’ve been able to take Reform Room into incredible spaces across the city and build the community first.”

The strategy has quietly positioned Reform Room as something slightly different in Scottsdale’s crowded wellness scene. While the city has no shortage of boutique fitness studios, Reform Room is preparing to open as one of the area’s first members-only Pilates concepts, designed around a curated community rather than high-volume class turnover.

When the studio officially opens, the model will focus on limited memberships, referral-based access, and a more private collective feel compared to traditional fitness spaces.

For now, however, the pop-ups continue.

Upcoming activations include themed events, seasonal collaborations, and a Coachella-inspired Pilates experience scheduled for later this spring. Each one functions as both a workout and a gathering — part wellness class, part social experience, and part preview of what the Reform Room community will ultimately become.

For Dearden, the unexpected pivot has become one of the brand’s greatest advantages.

“Building the physical space takes time,” she says. “But building the community doesn’t have to wait.”

And in Scottsdale, it seems the community is already showing up.
